Well I think all of us, upon playing the game, have wondered what the range between hexes A and B is (and Im not talking about targeting an enemy unit). The obvious answer is start counting!. For those out there who have a problem counting hexes
andscrolling the map at the same time I have attached an EXCEL workbook which might be of some help. It consists of three sheets, as follows:
In the first sheet you can calculate the range between any two given hexes. It also includes a center to center distance calculation (just to remind you that counting hexes is not necessarily an accurate distance measurement). In the distance calculation you can include hex height. Note that center to center calculations are not relevant to game play.
The second worksheet helps you define the map area surrounding a given hex at a certain radius. This is done by identifying six characteristic hexes (super hexagon) which delineate the perimeter of the area.
The third sheet is a protected one where most of the calculations are done.
Ive tested it and it seems OK but if you use it remember that you are doing so at your own risk!
