Default USA Remod V01

This is my Remodeling of OOB12 USA.

This is my first real attempt to contribute to the community. I would really appreciate testers

to point out any major flaws in my work.

This is not just a OOB remake. This is a complete MOD including OOB changes, Icon changes, lbm

changes, weapons and also attempted some sound changes.

Although I say changes, nothing in the original game has been taken out. This should not

overwrite any ORIGINAL files. (with the exception of sound.ini -- couldn't help that one.)

Except for the pics, sounds, some Icons and OOB changes the rest come from contributions of the

WinSPMBT community.

I give credit where credit is deserved and if I didn't then I don't clame it.

Give it a whirl, I would recomend you unzip it into another folder so you can check to see if anything you have will be overwriten. I did include some of my scenarios so check the numbers first. Just remeber, I meant this to be added to the original game install so nothing ORIGINAL would be overwriten, so if you have modded you version of WinSPMBT then there could be conflicts.

Thanks to everyone whi challenges these guys to make this game better, You guys deserve more for your hard work.

Have fun!!!

Default Re: USA Remod V01

Look good to me, the only issues I have are with the infantry weapons.

The XM8 project is officially on hold indefinitly pending a new set of open trials. However, the winners of the SCAR-L and SCAR-H trials, the FN Mk 16 and Mk 17 rifles are making their way into SF units. The only other weapon to come out of the SABR/OICW realm that's entering more advanced testing is the XM25. The XM8 will definitly not be replacing any infantry weapons before 2010 at the earliest, if at all. Some say that the FN rifles might win on a more broad level when the trials open up.

M16A4 and M4 are standard for frontline units in Iraq. Even some national guard units had switched from the A2 to the M4 by 2005.

The M16A3 is just an A2 with an S-1-F group, so you're right, there isn't wide spread usage. It was originally purchased in bulk by the US Navy, and utilized by the SEALs.

I've heard of the "RAAWS" nomenclature for the M3, but I've also heard MAAWS (Multi-role Anti-armor Anti-personel Weapon System). I've not seen RAAWS reprinted in any official government documentation.

The M136 and the Bofors AT-4 are essentially the same. The only reason for the confusion is the AT-4 was fielded before it was type classified as the M136. There are new versions of the AT-4, such as the AT-4CS in testing now, but none have been standardized yet.

Also, while the M14/M21/M25 rifles are definitly in the field, they Army has essentially declared them unsuportable in the long run, and is looking to simultaneuously upgrade and replace them. The replacement is the Squad Designated Marksman Rifle or SDM-R. These rifles have appeared in two forms, one a heavily accurized M16A4, a type in use for instance with the Stryker Brigade, and another that is an accurized M4 type, in service for instance with the 82nd Airborne. Also, the M24 Sniper Weapon System has been in use for some time, and is now being supplemented by the KAC M110, a derivative of the KAC Mk 11 Mod 0 that was created for SEAL teams, and is also being purchased for USMC Scout Snipers.

Thanks thatguy96,

You are correct about weapons. I had started this project back in the SPMBT 1.5 time before the XM8 was put on hold and before the Styker Brigades were fielded. I had considered changing the dates but, I got more into the icon part of it and that became a secondary issue.

This was originally strictly an OOB modification but as the game got better and I started to learn to modify more things it turned into trying to combine my changes with others in the community to put together the best combination I could.

I am still working on this and was looking more for input like this so I could make it more accurate. I plan to update that and other things in my next release. There are still plenty of slots left in the weapons area so it shouldn't be too hard.

I will have to research the SCAR trials again. They were just a spectualtion when I started this and I had heard that Spec OPs had field test some. Reminds me of the old Stonner from 60's could be very good weapon.

Has any one heard more about the Caliber change? (from 5.56mm to 6.8mm)

Thanks again let me know if you find anything else.

The "old Stoner" 63As were on USN arsenals until 1982, and there are plenty of old weapons still lying around.

Caliber change has been sidelined at the moment, but telescoped and plastic cased ammo are in vogue. This would only affect the amount of ammo a squad would be carrying in game though.

There have been a lot of weapons projects happening in the last few years too in terms of small arms.

You might want to look into the following to check for accuracy:
XM320/M320
XM26
XM25
XM312/XM307K50
XM307
XM110/M110
Mk 12 Mod 0/1 (SPR)
Mk 13 Mod 0/1/2 (the rifle)
EX 13 Mod 0 (FN EGLM candidate, submitted with the SCAR-L/H)
Mk 14 Mod 0
Mk 15 Mod 0/M88 PIP
EX 16/Mk 16 Mod 0
EX 17/Mk 17 Mod 0
Mk 18 Mod 0 (CQB-R)
Mk 47 Mod 0
Squad Advanced Marksman Rifle (SAM-R)
Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR)
Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (SDM-R)

I would recommend browsing this site for more info on stuff in development:

I enjoy the icons that you have put into this OOB. There are some units (M1A2 TUSK) that come up incorrectly, I believe. Some of the infantry weapons are a bit one-sided. This does not mean that you are incorrect, for this is your remodification. It just makes it difficult to explain the substantially higher kill of an M16a4 Versus a Player Two's AK-74. But I do really enjoy your icons and sounds! Good stuff.

Thanks Sewter,

I realized after I posted this that some of the icon were off. This is because I made a last minute shp number change to keep my stuff better organized. Try 3610, 3496 and 3491 for all the TUSK versions.

I appreciate you not nailing me on the weapon HEK. I never expected them to be fairly accepted. I only put in my opinion of ratings. (this is just a mod not an official change... Maybe???... nah) I just wanted to have infantry weapons that were not the same and improved in one way or another as things progressed; from M1 to M14 to M16 to M16A2/M4A1/M4A1 SOPMOD to M16A4/M8/future, etc...

M14 was basically M1 with better ACC.
M16 was a better weapon than M14 but less HEK with smaller caliber size. It however, improved over it's service time. M16A2 was an improvement to the A1 thus better ACC and HEK.
The M4 series is represented by the time they are issued service wide with modified sighting which improves ACC and HEK. The SOPMOD series have higher values to add realism(mainly ACC). Since they are given to elite units who heavily modify them.
M16A4 is a better version of A2 with sight modifications.
M8's are not official but I assume the future weapon will be better overall.

They are not uberweapons in the game. I get nailed by the AI with AK47s and 74s and opposing M16s. The worst is the RPK and PKMs, they are murder. Also the unit using them really determines how well they work in the game.

My main objective was to get the weapons with the time periods.

I know in game terms it seems unbalanced but, I would modify all weapons to indicate the same improvements in firearms. I think any weapon in the right hands can be as deadly as the next.

The AK in Vietnam had higher HEK and average ACC and was probably a better weapon at the time. M16s in US units had better ACC and less HEK so I would represent this also. I am thinking (biased I'm sure) in terms of the US side.

Remember this is also within the effective range of the weapon which is where things balance out. AKs were less accurate at longer ranges thus losing HEK efficiency. M16 had better ACC at longer ranges thus getting better use of lower HEK.

I am working on version 1.5 which I have adjusted these values alittle. I also have fixed a number of OOB errors(such as the TUSK Icons) and added a few new units and formations.

Thanks again

Here is an updated version.

I have tweeked a few issues that I have noticed when using it.

Some units n certain time periods were missing due to my reworking.

Double checked all units to make sure all icons were correct.

Added M113A3 and M113A3 GL with slat armor

I really liked all the mods you did on the Stryker vehicles. I see them all the time in Washington and now i have better perspective on them. Thanks for doing a great job.

Sorry guys,

I haven't been able to get to my high speed connection in a while (working too much). Hopefully, this weekend I can post the update.

Thanks for the good words. It has been fun reworking things. I am working on some USMC improvements, if anybody has any input on what they would like to see let me know.
