Default Counter-battery fire

How does this work? I couldn't find anything in the manual about it. I seem to remember that in SP2, artillery tubes not engaged in a fire mission fired counter-battery salvos.

Is that the way it works?

Thanks in advance,
- Nick

Yes, if range is = or greater, and sufficient ammo remins (8 rounds I think), and the higher the skill of the potential counter battery firers, the greater the chance of your off-map battery firing a CB mission on your opponent's off-map arty which has just fired.

In other words - the same as all other SP series games, except that in our code we add extra chance to locate as the target battery fires (so firing more often means a better chance of eventual location). Plus we allow batteries to be destroyed (either by eliminating crew or by a heavy enough hit), or individual guns in the battery to be killed, killing all the guns will also eliminate the battery.

I think it is mentioned somewhere in the release history section. It's a good idea to work backwards through that for minor detail changes etc by release.

Cheers
Andy
