Any interest in a new SEIV tournament?
I was thinking about setting up a new tournament. It would be a straight forward single elim, head to head bracket with random seeding. Games would be small KOTH style battles. If the players can agree to non-default settings that would be fine, except for the quadrant size. I'd want to keep those smallish so the games don't take for ever. Can we get 8 players? I don't guess we could get 16 probably. Anyone interested?

I would go for it. Would they be rated games? Please?

Re: Any interest in a new SEIV tournament?
How would this be different from KOTH? But in either case, I'm interested

Re: Any interest in a new SEIV tournament?
I'd have no problem with them being rated for players who are part of the SEIV ratings. I'd hate to disuade someone from playing though by insisting that all the games be rated games.
The individual games would be very much like KOTH games, but KOTH is an ongoing league. When you lose you go to the bottom of the hill, and if you win and make it to the top of the hill you have to defend your title from the next guy to come along. Players come and go but KOTH never ends.
This tournament would be a finite event. You lose and you're out. You win all your games and at the end you are the tournament winner.

Say you dont want the games to take much time...how do we achieve that ? Simply by playing a very small galaxy with only a bunch of systems ?

Half the size of small stock quadrant makes for a fast-paced game.

Re: Any interest in a new SEIV tournament?
Yes. Of course the time the games take will still be determined by how fast the players play, and there isn't a lot I can do about that. But all things being equal, a game played in a quadrant with 25 systems goes much faster than one with 125.

Re: Any interest in a new SEIV tournament?
On an aside, I doubt the games can be rated, since the Ratings have closed down this summer. I suppose you could always take the last rankings and update them with the results of this tourney, though.

Re: Any interest in a new SEIV tournament?
Oh, I wasn't aware Slynky shut the ratings site down. I hadn't visited it in a while. I guess that eliminates that problem. No ratings then.
