Default The Next Offering

This next scenario from the Wild SPMBT team is nearly here.

By the way, we've lost Skirmisher as a tester. He did some fine, very fine work for me and I'm grateful. I miss you already, my friend!Fabio Prado has joined our group and will do another fine job. Thanks, Fabio, Lars and Tom D)

Here is one that is a little different.

This one deals with the Israeli Rescue at Entebbe. I've tried with many, many hours of work and testing to make it as real as the real event, including the landing of the 4 C-130s, the hostage rescue and the Israeli withdrawal.

Now with that said, here is the challenge. I'm giving you two scenarios. Play the first one. It is a dry run, a rehearsal, with no enemy units. You can practice landing, practice getting out the hostages and taking off.

Practice as much as you want. But when you are ready for the real thing (and please don't play the second one until you feel you are and any eventuality), then conduct the rescue.

Remember, its all a matter of timing, coordination and planning. Rehearse, then try it. Try it as though you have only one shot at it. Read your instructions in the text carefully. This is a thinking, planning man's scenario. If all you want to do is shoot and kill you may not care for this. If you want to be a good tactical planner and executor, then this one is for you.

As soon as I know where they are to go in the scenario list, i'll let you know that they are posted at the Wargamer.

The attachment is a JPG file of the Entebbe Airport so you'll know what you will be facing.

Standing by...WB

Great concept for a scenario! Something out the ordinary run and gun. Can't wait!

Good! Very good. We should have it ready this week. I usually post one on Sunday but could not make it this week. Look for it by next weekend, Mark. Thanks for the encouragement.

WB - An idea for a possible future scenario?.

Battle of Long Tan, Australians in Vietnam where Delta Coy 6RAR gained a US Presidential Unit Citation.

I seem to recall there being one scenario for this in SP2 (in an add-on pack?). Anyway - some links for your reference, one of those is a nice-lloking 125000 map.

(has Harry Smith's personal account of the battle)

I think it would be an excellent idea, Andy. I'll follow up on it and we'll see what we can do.

My first campaign might be on the Commonwealth forces and great battle of the Imjin where again a Presidential Citation was issued for the valiant stand of the Glosters at the River against the Chinese. What do you think?
