Genocide
I've just committed my first act of genocide!
Played the demo for a month waiting for the game to arrive
came close to exterminating a whole race a couple
of times but kept running out of time.Got the game last week. One race down eleven more to go.

Re: Genocide
Genocide isn't fun. Why don't you capture their planets with troops?

Re: Genocide
Genocide is too fun. Especially when playing agianst a real live person in a PBW game. . But capture is also fun.

Re: Genocide
It all depends. Imagine a small planet with about 1% for organics but covered in farms that the AI has built for some reason.
I'd glass that planet, mainly on the principle that I don't want people that stupid in my empire

Re: Genocide
I would like to see some number of how many enemies (combatants and non-combatants separated) I have killed in my game... Same way you can see the tonnage of destroyed enemy ships in ship design screen.

Re: Genocide
I once posted a thread about glassing a planet and the moral implications thereof. It was an interesting thread to say the least. When it comes to glassing a world and being an Evil ruler, don't forget to read the E.R.A.S.E list. (Link in SEIV Humor - Sticky Thread - New Members Please Look Here)
You might gleam some interesting info.

Re: Genocide
I sometimes use a race in SP that has ALL extra tech area bonuses , but which accordingly has massive deficits in race characteristics. When you capture a race, in SEIV I do not believe you get the advantages of it - i.e. you cannot build Talismans if you capture a Religious race. And since it is weak anyway, I would simply annihilate it should I come across it myself.
(Or exploit them - trade with them. If they've got a trade deficit and you've got a trade bonus, suck all of their resources out of them with a Trade treaty and then subjugate/conquer them, just for the fun of it.)

Re: Genocide
Capturing the planets infrastruture intact souinds great but
my experance with the demo was wasteing several turns building enough troops ,putting them on transports ,ferring them to the planet then watching them die with very little to show for it.Then I'd glass the planet.I haven even bothered to research them, this game.I've been at war with the num one race almost from the get go , so I've spent most of my research building weapons and ships. My starting position kind of sucked very few breathable worlds and very few useable warp points, only good thing about it was all the unstable warp points have discuraged the neighbours from visiting .

Re: Genocide
Very few useable warppoints is good. Easier to defend your home system. And you DO know you can colonize non-breathable worlds, right?

Re: Genocide
In the demo troops ARE weak. In the full version, you can build much larger troops with much stronger weapons. Then it's worthwhile. The overall opinion on this forum is that capturing is FAR more effective than glassing the planet. I'd say try it once, even if only in the simulator. Troops are simply better than planetary napalm (unless you mod the napalm bombs to do 1 damage).
