Can anything be done about Armageddon?
In my current game, someone I am attacking is casting Armageddon. It is late in the game, I assume he has a huge gem income, and practically all of his remaining provinces are castled - the ones that were not fell on the first turn of my attack. Armageddon does not change the balance of power, so I am not too worried, but it certainly is a pain - I like to be able to plan my turns, and that is kind of hard when one fifth of your units, mages, and magic smiths die every turn.
I have already learned that domes do not help. Reducing him down to nothing is inevitable, but will take at least ten turns. Is there anything I can do to protect my servants, apart from trying to kill his mages, reduce his gem income and take over his labs? (all of which I am doing anyway)

Re: Can anything be done about Armageddon?
Eliminate or mod clams so that Wish can't be cast endlessly. I don't think that Wish was meant to be cast one (or more!) times each turn in the late game like it is done today due to excessively cheap clams.
At least his clam holders will be dying too so it will get harder and harder for him to cast endless wishing. That is, assuming scouts are affected by that spell, which I do not know the answer to.

Re: Can anything be done about Armageddon?
So, basically, there is nothing that can be done to prevent someone from casting Armageddon each turn until his last lab has been taken over? Clam holders are not dying, by the way. I have yet to lose a single black servant, and I doubt he has, either.
This is the craziest game I have ever played. I wonder how it will play out after the Doombringer is wiped out. After all, once he is gone, there will be four very impowerished, very angry nations. And judging from what is going on, each and every one of us has been hoarding.
Anyway... I am surprised that with all the 'nerf it' threads no one has taken a dislike to Armageddon. :-)

I think my scouts with Soul Contracts have been dying quite a bit due to the Armageddon.

Actually, I lost almost 20 last turn. It's all about luck. You could try locating my caster

Well, judging by your armies, you've been hoarding quite a bit more than I...

Re: Can anything be done about Armageddon?
How does Armaggedon work ?
Is it like Soul slay that units have a save throw on MR or does it rather "normal" damage like 10+2d6 ?
So would a Jotunheim hoarding on jotun scouts with 30+ HP rarely ever lose such a scout or would there be no difference because armageddon is not any form of a hp-based attack ?

Re: Can anything be done about Armageddon?
And somehow related to this topic :
If you have 5 Wishcasters in lategame and can use them all for wishing every turn could you rather easy win by wishing 5 times for Dominion and so win with Dominionkill after a few turns ?
Has anyone ever tried that ?

Re: Can anything be done about Armageddon?
Is Armageddon cumulative? What happens when 2-3 nations cast half a dozen Armageddons each?

The dominion gain from wishing is not very much. Having tried this, I can say that it appears to be worth about 5 temples is all.
As for Yvelina's comment about nobody complaining about armageddon in the forum, I think it is not really an unbalanced spell at all. It affects the castor too, as Tuna-Fish undoubtedly knows. The problem is that it is far too easy to cast because of clams. Wish at level 9 with skill 9 was designed to be a rare and wonderful thing, so most of the things you get from it ought to be very nice. Clanms have greatly altered this planned balance, though.

Slightly off-topic, regarding \"dominion\" wishing
Having someone much smaller than you wishing for dominion and/or provinces can be very annoying. Both these wishes appear (admittedly based on not an enormous amount of info) to give a small chance *per province* of having an effect. If I've got 200 provinces, and am working to crush an enemy who's got 30, that enemy can make things very annoying by wishing for these two. Neither is a good way to win, but they are not insignificant.
