Default Another newbie Question...weapon mounts

Ok, the AI has a ship with a Wave Motion gun that hits for like 420 points. The Wave Motion gun on my dreadnaught hits for like 140 points. How the heck do you get the bigger gun???? (I gotta have a 3-1 advantage or it just takes out my ships...unless the AC works...then it can take out it's ships)
To sum up question: How do you add heavy mounts to a ship?

You need to select the Heavy Mount for your weapons when you create your ship design. Before you add your weapons to your design. Click on the weapon mount button on the right and choose Heavy Mount from the list. When you add the weapons to the ship design you will notice a 'H' IIRC on the weapon. You will also notice that the weapon does more damage, takes up more space, etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks Questor...I guess I have never noticed that button before. A pretty sigificant oversight! <g>

There is an other small oversight, there is a search function for this forum in the right corner. With questions like the weapon mounts you can be sure it has already been posted. So if you don't want to wait for a friendly person in the forum to answer your question, you could probably dig it out with a search.

Thanks Triumvir...sorry to have taken up the bandwidth. Next time, I will try the search function first.

Triumvir, you were absolutely correct. I went back and tried the search function (no hits on 'adding heavy mount') and found the info when I searched on 'add heavy mount'. It is my experience that search engines can sometimes be very stupid, so I ask instead usually. This search failed with 'adding heavy mount' but succeeded with 'add heavy mount', so I think it mauy be ok. <g> Again, thanks for the clue.
