72% of all iraqis voted.!!!!! 2/3 of all expatriots(iraqis who left iraq). In mosul where its primarly sunni who said they where gunna boycott the election and the terroirsts there said they were gunna blow up the people who said they were gunna vote. Of the people in mosul 500/3000 voted.!!!!!!!!! I am so happy. OMG this is almost as good as if Dom3 coming out today.!!!

Right. Hardly any Sunni muslims voted. Those elected today will have no
claim to legitimacy in the eyes of twenty percent of the Iraqi population,
which are nicely concentrated in their own part of the country. It just so
happens that this is the exact same people who have the sympathy of all their
neighboring countries but one... can you say civil war? As long as US stays
in Iraq, it will be breeding ground for the worst kind of fanatics who will
have to only look outside the window to see support for the propaganda the
mollas will be throwing at them. As soon as the US leaves, a civil war will
break out, because the Sunni will never accept Shiite domination, and because
they will have outside support. In a civil war, the Kurds will affirm their
de facto independance, which will do wonders for the US relations with Turkey,
the only successful secular nation with a Muslim majority.

The one thing that can prevent the civil war after the US withdraws, is Iranian
troops. That will do wonders for the US influence in the region, and for the
march of democracy.

The path on which our glorious president embarked will lead to either a
stronger Iran (a theocracy that hates the US), or the souring of the US
relations with its most improtant Muslim allies, or the creation of a
terrorist haven such as Afganistan used to be, or a quagmire in which US troops
will be stuck for a generation. Or to all of the above.

And the scary part is that this was prophecized by military analysts before
the US invaded. Some of these analysts were American and British. No one
listened. That was neither surprising, nor particularly scary. What is both,
at least in my opinion, is that after two years of wasted tax money, human
lives, and international legitimacy and sympathy, most Americans still believe
that this was a good idea, that the end results will be worth it, and that
Bush more than an ignoramus under the thumb of some scary people.

The elections in Iraq are important, as is the longterm wellbeing of the Iraqi people. Based on practical experiences on other forums, I just don't think that this is the right medium to discuss these things.

Not because it's not an important issue. But because the medium is so poorly suited to conveying the subtlety and depth of opinions and information that go into helpful discussions of any sort on topics like this.

Seconded. Move to change topic to Creationism immediately.
