Default Mercenaries

Hmm, it seems that there is a finite supply of mercenaries? Once the game runs out of them, there simply aren't any more to recruit? That sucks. Anyway to fix that.

Correct. And no, there isn't any way to recruit more. It's realistic that there isn't an infinite supply of people willing to die for money. Consider it part of the game's challenge that you must be careful how you use such resources.

Eh, historically in times of war there have always been more people willing to fight and kill for money - they don't usually plan on dying, and the mercenary life at least gives the chance to be fed, and earn enough ( via looting if not straight pay ) to hope for a retirement someday.

Yes there is only a limited number of mercenaries. Though some kind of randomized mercenary Groups in addition to the already excistsing ones would be cool. Also as was suggested before it would be cool if the players could offer their squads as mercenaries, though that would probably just be exploited in several nasty ways.

Don't worry Decan, there are 50+ mercenary companies in Dom2. That should Last you for a while.

I certanly would not want to have infinite number of random merc for hire, for serveral different reasons.

Not if you kill one company per turn.

I'm talking about SP play anyway and having mercs around just adds to the fun and flavor somewhat. Lategame, a few mercs running around is hardly going to make much of a difference.

Killing merc company is a perfectly valid and interesting tactic. I often hire company not because I need than that much, but to deny my opponent from doing the same. With unlimited number of random mercs, or with "reborn" merces, such tactic would no longer be effective.

I would not mind to see anouther 20-30 companies, if devs will decide to add them, although I strongly doubt they will, it seem to be very low priority taks, if any. But random companies or unlimited/reborn companies would be a bad idea IMHO. Having mercs as another limited resourse in the game, as it is now, is nice and add complexity into the game.
