Default Classic Mistaeks. :)

I'm sure we have all done it and I'm also sure I have made many previous, but the one I just did rates pretty highly anyway.

So I'm playing Micti having fun, building away, along pops my fave hero of old, Good'ole Micitipocti, I send him out desperately looking for death sites, low and behold, The Tower of Seven Tombs pops up very close to my capital !.

Excellent thninks I, I have Miciti the unholy priest, Im bloody miles from Skull island the normal beeline I make as I like to set up camp there and churn out an undead Version of the Island of Dr Moreau with Mictipocti if I get the chance. So I put him on enter site and leave him to it, after flipping a turn, examining the resultant mummy summoned by the tomb and going 'Coo' and 'Ace' and other such shiny sandboxer thoughts.

Flip game on about 10 turns. I have a large army with a good core of mages, priests and generals on the loose, they pass by where Mictipocti is to smack up an invading army, quite large and with fliers, so I thought, Ill grab him and put him on guard commander with his legion of mummies.

Heres the mistake, I didnt fully read the Mummy text when I looked and went 'coo'.

I view the battle next turn and think sweet, total anihilation as I win. Only I gave leprosy to about 8 generals and my prophet.

Oh well, better put taxes up and start looking for replacements in the ranks..hehe.

Anyone else done any monumentally daft stuff ?

Spirokeat.

2 come to mind....

Attacking with 2 of my armies and a rented mercenary army. I lose. I look at the battle and watch the merc army get slaughtered. ARRGGHH forgot to take my other armies off of sneak!

Finally I can summon those creatures Ive been waiting to add to my army. Rush into battle. I lose. I look at the battle and watch my new summons burn up their own commanders (or freeze them) then flee the combat before ever reaching the enemy

Accompanying my Abysian army with a Druid proved to be, shall we say, problematic, when the Druid took it upon himself to convey barkskin through Protection. Barkskin reduces fire resistance. Abysians radiate heat. Oops.

I still forget to take armies off sneak even now. Im using an summoned vampire army to take high str independants and I keep slowing my progress by forgetting to turn to move.

and thinking about it, Ive hit on my armies with aura's before too.

Another classic mistake is going hell for leather to get a particular level in a magic to unleash a spell on the world !!! and then discovering you were a number of skill levels short on any of your mages to cast it once researched. (Well of misery comes to mind from a few days ago)

I just fashioned some boots for a general that doesnt have a feet slot too. Sheesh, Im feeling denser by the minute thinking about all these.

"Patrol" and "Pillage" both start with a P... but I've learned that's about all they have in common.

My best mistake story is probably the one I posted at the start of the thread here:

http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin...4;t=001035;p=2

I have done some of the ones you guys mentioned. Ooops mummies... I saved my commanders with regen rings and eventually GoH.

Another one I did fairly recently was decide to do a "hit and run" archer/recon strike using a mercenary company... ordering mercs to retreat has a major disadvantage... ooooooooooooooooooooops...

I like that story PVK, I tend to play Mictian pretty much solely and although I have won well, no games at all since I started playing, I just cant resist the Blood Fountain.

In fact as an aside, following advice on here about jacking up my Inde str I am pretty much walking over a game currently. So thumbs up, Gandalf I think it was that gave it.

Anyway, problem with saving them with regen rings (which was my instant thought) was the fact that the main 3 generals all had lifelong protection and eyes of aiming, hence I had no slots to put a ring in and I didnt have any other items available to build that gave regen.

I do love Mictipocti though. I played mainly on Orania and Im always on a mission to land him on Skull Island..hehe.

Quick question how DO you get unholy priests other than via national troops like ernor or heros like Micti.

Mound Fiends are Unholy-3 and can be summoned by a D3 mage at Conj-7 for 28(?) death gems.
