mutliplayer
Hello there DII community!
First, thanks a lot to all the folks here who seem so nice and invested a lot of time and effort to make this great game and this site good.
After a week of reading through the Posts here and single-player fun, I would really like to try out some mutliplayer PBEM action. I would really appreciate a few tips from anyone here on how I could join a game.
Otherwise, if anyone is interested in starting a new game, I would do so. Welcome would be anyone who wouldn't mind playing with a multiplayer beginner. I would be up for 1v1 on smaller maps or group fun on any larger map, Aran or Desert preferred. Other victory conditions also ok.
Thanks in advance and happy gaming!

Re: mutliplayer
If you are looking for PBEM specifically (if you have something against, or don't like TCP/IP) you will probably have to wait for a MP thread to come along.
If you would like to join any game you can get your hands on , there are threads that start up here semi-regularly as well as over at DomX Forums http://invisionfree.com/forums/Domin...5&showforum=23
there are also some games going on if you happen to be a Gold Golder on their Forums.
Last but not least, if you are looking for any type of game and you have a piece of time on your hands, there are a few Groups that play blitz games, (1 or 2 sitting games) during certain set times.

Re: mutliplayer
thanks.
No, not a Gold Golder.
I have nothing "against" TCP/IP, just not sure I know how that works. And players keep writing here that this game is "made" for PBEM.
Blitz games may probably be out for me since I work full time and have a family.
Well should anyone ever need a player to fill a slot, let me know. Would appreciate the chance of playing a race I have already tried in SP (thus: not an underwater race, or a blood race, or Ermor).

TCP/IP play is less clunky than PBEM, but, if you're going for a "slow" game (ie, not trying to have the game finished in one setting; for this, TCP/IP is the only reasonable option), you'll need one of the players (or a third party) to have a server running all the time - and you don't need this for PBEM.
In the end, the person doing the hosting on their computer will need the .2h files from every player. In the PBEM setting, each player runs the game on their own computer for their orders, then, when they "end the turn", they get a .2h file that they send to the host by email; the host runs the hosting, and sends each player their .trn file.
In the TCP/IP setting, it's nicer, because you don't have to bother with emails and copying files: the server runs on one machine, and accepts network connections (which means you more or less need a permanent IP address, and an open port). Each player connects (using the "Network"/"Connect to a Dominion Server" options of the main menu) to the server, and the game takes care of the file transfers. You can either play "blitz" games this way, or have games that run over several days/weeks/months.

If you want to try PBEM 1 on 1, you can send me a PM on the board; I still consider myself a newbie, and am not a competitive player.
