my pretender -- vanished!?!?
Everything was going fine and normal, my ghost king sneaked into an independent province -- after "host", I got the message there was a battle (why??), I watched it, he fled, but didnt show up anywhere. He didnt die, either. Made sure by checking the hall of fame, he is still in it. But he is NOWHERE. Checked all provinces and used "n" button. Grrr. I cant revive him either. Anybody know if this is a bug?

He got discovered while sneaking in. Were there any friendly provinces around that one that he could have reatreated to? If not, he's dead. Why you can't revive him if that's the case, I wouldn't know.

Re: my pretender -- vanished!?!?
First... he was discovered while sneaking thus causing a battle.
then
Sounds like he died when retreating and no friendly provinces were nearby thus killing him.
Your priests can do 'Call God' which will eventually bring him back... but his magic will be weakened.

Re: my pretender -- vanished!?!?
Try pressing N to cycle through commanders (if you haven't already).. if he's not actually dead (no cross next to his name in the hall of fame and no ability to call god with your priests) and N doesn't eventually cycle round to him, sounds like a bug.

Re: my pretender -- vanished!?!?
On the same note, if you don't have any priests to "call god" you will lose...POOF! If you are using your Pretender aggressively you need to make sure you got his back covered as far as dominion goes so he can retreat. That won't save you from assassins though but you'll have an edge in "your" dominion . The "N" key is invaluable .

It also helps if your pretender has the Immortal attribute and you fight in your own Dominion: "You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I'll just come back and pick up all my stuff."

Re: my pretender -- vanished!?!?
No, like I said, I pressed "n", I cant "call God", he DIDNT DIE (still alive in the Hall of Fame), and ALL of the surrounding provinces were friendly.
The computer apparently thought I wanted to attack, it didnt say "XX was discovered", but rather "we failed to conquer the independent province".
He's dissapeared, not dead. What the hell?

Re: my pretender -- vanished!?!?
Just a thought: make a backup of the game folder, then go back in the game and host the turn. Can you call your god on the subsequent turn? Maybe the game didn't register it as he only just died? I think something like that happens with the prophet as well, but I forget whther it's the same with pretenders.
