how many players with a single CD ?
Hia all,
me and some friends of mine are really interested to buy dominions 2 ... I want to know if we need to buy one copy each or is possible (like with StarCraft) just to install the game on the server and a sort of 'spawn' Version on the client ? Of course for an hot seat game we need a single Cd but we are interested in TCP multiplayer and/or PBEM ...
bye bye and good luck
Andrea
I have heard on other topics that there is a sort of big step in price buying one ore two CD's from ShrapnelGames ... there is alco some other step ? I'm trying to merge aal the order from my games club in a single big order ...

Re: how many players with a single CD ?
Hi Andrea.
Regarding multiplayer, one CD can only be used on one computer. If you want to play several people with one CD you'll have to play hot seat.

Does this mean I can't host on one computer and use my other computer as a client (with one CD)? Or does the restriction only apply to client computers?
(well, I guess WinXP is stable enough to use as a host box... maybe...)

Re: how many players with a single CD ?
Hmmmm I wonder if the text-mode command line host command would need the CD. Its not looking for anything. It would be nice to be able to host AND play. I know it compares CD keys of all the players and treats matches very badly. I wonder if the hosts key is included.

Re: how many players with a single CD ?
Hmm, this means every nation in a multiplayer has to have a unique key? I can't have my computer client two nations, for example? No "I have several nations, you have several nations"-duel?

Re: how many players with a single CD ?
One computer (with one CD) can be used as the client for an unlimited number of nations in a network game that is hosted somewhere else.
So you can play 3 vs 3 with two computers if you want.

Yup Is that "one CD per computer", or "one CD per DomsII client"?
If I launch several Doms clients on the same machine (they might all display on the same screen, or, more interestingly, on different screens over the network), do I need one CD per client? I suspect I do, but I'd like to check.
Also - the key seems to be in the "key" file in the user's "dominions2" directory [this is with a Linux install]. Can the same user have two different keys, or, if I had two different keys, would I need to setup additional Users to use the second key?
