A question for the Devs
Is there any chance I could get a list of the Items / Sites / Units(with thier numbers) for the game?
I am writing a senerio (.map file) editor and putting together these lists is proving VERY time consuming. If I could get details about these items as well it would also save time.
Thanks,
Sammual

Re: A question for the Devs
Items are in the manual.
There is no easily accessible (reader friendly) list of units or sites, but as we intend to add moddability a unit list is probably nessecary anyway.
As of now you will have to do with sunrays list. Remind us from time to time (bump this post) if you do not hear anything further. Hopefully I'll compile a simple mapmaking kit with unit lists and pics of trees etc.

Is this something you want to do? I mean would it be enjoyable? Or maybe simple (such as writing a quick extraction code to list them to a file). If so then by all means have fun. (or were these going to be IN the program?)
Otherwise Id sure prefer to try and interest some of the players to tackle it. Everything we can provide will free up your valuable time in other areas.
You are working with GIMP correct? (massive overkill programmable paint program which is FREE for anyone who wants it in both linux and windows formats)
And the player lists at SunRay's site are great. Im sure they will catch up. I wish I still had a link that would access the Dom1 stuff he had since alot of that would work for now.
Just my humble effort to help. Let us know how we can fill stuff in.

Yes, I GIMP.

I am shure that this is something that no one WANTS to do. The devs have access to the source and can do this much quicker than we can (Unless they want to hand over the raw DB).

To have a player do it we would have to;
1) Use the 'all units save game' and create the list by hand.
2) Hack the game to get it to output this information.
Option 1 is just too time consuming. Doing one theme of one nation at a time is a lot of work but even if that is done we still will not have the neutral units and the summons.
Option 2 is something that most Devs are not going to suggest Users do.
Please don't offer other peoples services. If you are willing to do it great, it would be an invaluable resource for mod makers, if not don't tell the devs someone else will do it because we don't know that.

I agree, they are. They are just not complete.

I'm not sure that anyone will do the Neutrals and Summons. I agree that all the nations units will be done in time.

Pulling the names of the stuff from the game isnt very hard. I can do that. Its not databased in any way with facts about what they do but then thats not likely to be in any database that the Devs have anyway. Not in a format we can use.
If you want I can send you the file of the program. It has all the text such as site names, item names, descriptions of nations, the text of random events, everything. Its not compiled so you dot have to decompile the program to get it, just read it out.

I didnt do that any more than you did. I said that Id like to see it happen. I suspect that it amounts to the same thing except that Im hoping the players will do it and your hoping that the devs will. Either way is fine.

Thats why they make a good starting place for anyone to work off of.

The names are a nice starting point but they are useless without the details (Costs for units and requirements for Items in my case).
I think I have almost everything I need for the sites now I just have to put a cost on everything.

The costs / stats are linked to the names in some way. The Devs have to have access to this. If I can get it in any readable form I can use it (Relational Database creation and restructuring is my day job).
