Turning weapons off.

Is there a way to turn off weapons from firing? It seems whenever I enter a system with new races, my ship ALWAYS fires at them. I can't find the key to turn off the weapons.

Suggestions anyone?

Your ship always fires at them? Except for point-defense cannons, no weapon fires automaticlly..

It's annoying when I'm flying alongside a friendly carrier and my PDC fire at friendly fighters...thus making everything hostile.

Hmm, have you tried yanking the PD into your cargo hold?

If it is firing on the fighters, they aren't friendly, or you have a bug.
