I've played a couple of games with it now and I (and the AI) are really enjoying it! Check this out:

Dreadnought with 2 Spinal Mount Phased Polaron V's doing 750 damage each....hehe...

AI Amonkrie Battleship with Spinal Mount Quantum Torpedo III doing 1000 damage....

AI Terran Confederation Light Cruiser with Heavy Bombardment Missile III doing 600 damage at range 17. (Fires every 4 rounds.)

The extra ship sizes also add alot to it... I hope MM uses some of these ideas. Good Job!
