I play always my own races, universes as large as possible, highest level of AI opponents, 5000 racial points to divide, 3 starting planets at Good level. I myself like to create races that are good in research and an additional bonus for mining minerals. Most of the time when I have first contact the enemy is not willing to trade, builds some small ships to attack my planets from scratch (which I defend with platforms). It is rather a challenge from the beginning to play the game this way. I have not changed the original game environment except for the Quadrant improvements by emperor Zodd and the speech file(s) by Nyx. They are great additions to the original and only add interesting things without changing the concept of MM. I'm happy to see you Modders grouped up and basically agreed upon keeping the original as is and only add interesting new features.
