\"Ship movement line\" fatal bug
I just discovered the "show ship movement lines" option and was quite psyched to now have some indication of where my ships were headed.
Unfortunately, I found a bug that causes the game to die. The situation: As I said, I had ship movement lines on. I had a colony ship on my homeworld, and I selected the "colonize" option and chose a planet in a system two systems away. A windows dialog box popped up saying "range check error <OK>". After clicking OK, none of the main panel buttons would respond anymore and I had to kill the game from Windows.
I then reloaded the game from an earlier point, and tried this exact same thing again, and again it crashed in the same way. So then, I reloaded and turned off the ship movement lines, and picked the same planet to colonize with the colony ship. It worked fine and the ship moved off. Two turns later, while the colony ship was still underway, I turned the ship movement lines back on, and at the auto-movement point at the begining of the next turn, I once again got the "range check error" when it tried to move the colony ship.
So beware enabling ship movement lines!
