OT-Swedish help please.
I don't mean to be assuming stereoptypes but I am wondering if some of the Swedish members could help me with something I am wondering about. There is currently running here a Volvo ad where everyone wants to be like the Volvo driver so they all grow beards. I suspect it is an actual Swedish ad as everyone has a distinct Nordic look to them. Could someone tell me if they know of this ad?. I just want to know if my guess is correct.

Re: OT-Swedish help please.
As far as I know it is wrong, because Volvo is partly Dutch (as I am)..............
BTW. No beard

Re: OT-Swedish help please.
I have a beard and I'm not Swedish or Dutch (that I know of, rather British isles, German French). I did think Volvo was Swedish, but I just thought it might be a swedish ad because after a lifetime of watching foreign tv and movies I can sort of tell where footage is from by the quality and lighting. The people in the ad are all light skin with fair hair, including the women.

Re: OT-Swedish help please.
Nope, haven't heard of the ad.
Volvo is not dutch.
Volvo sold their automobil section to Ford (1998).
The truck section is still Swedish as is the jet engine section.
Volvo Auto have a factory in the Netherlands.
Saab auto was bought by GM (2000) and is a daughter-cooperation of them now, Saab Scania (Trucks, buses) is still Swedish as is Saab Aviation (Fighter Jets) even though they co-operate with British BAE to sell the Gripen multi-purpose jet abroad.
But Volovo is not dutch in anyway except the cars that are made there, previously they made their small cars (480) and recently the S/V40, but I belive Mercedes/Mitshubisi will take over the dutch plant.
Both Volvo and Saab still have their main development and production in Sweden, but that is propably only a matter of time as these multi-national giants doesn't bother with national interest....for good and bad.
Beards, hmm, not in fashion right now but some have them.

Re: OT-Swedish help please.
Well if a Swedish person doesn't know about it then I guess its not Swedish. Strange, because I saw it again and the car has either Swedish or EU plates (blue with yellow)

It can be recorded here for the international market, these things happen.
And I don't see that many commercials on tv either..
