A puzzlement

I'm still using 1.84 - since upgrading to 1.91 on my laptop ate my graphics. I don't want any grief with my desktop.

I always start out researching Advanced Research. With no Point Sharing - it says 0.5 years. I'm assuming that means 5 turns.

After 2 turns its showing 0.6! Wazzup widdat!

Research is altered by two things early on:
- You start with some points first turn, 20,000 bonus research points by default.
- Afterwards, your homeworld will likely go back to an Indifferent mood, while you start at Happy level. Therefore you lose the 10% bonus to research if your happiness goes down back to Indifferent.

So you may see such differences in the early turns, as your research income will be lowered after the first two/three turns. (Unless you happen to have a quite high Happiness characteristic)

You might consider the population bonus as well as happiness when your rate increases/decreases.

Perhaps population decreases due to colony ships or transports taking population dropped you to a lower bonus.
