Why are there no Starfury mods or shipsets for SE4?
I just finished Starfury. Yeah, I know, I have had it since it was released. Had computer problems, was working too much, never reinstalled it; you have heard the story before.
Anyway, I finally met (and mashed) the Sithrack. What a cool shipset! Anyway, it got me to thinking: why aren't there any shipsets ported over from Starfury to SE4? Pirates, Sithrack, etc. It must be some kind of copyright issue, but I'm thinking that such a thing would ultimately enhance both games and result in more sales. A mod could be based on the differences in how the components work; i.e. null space weapons would be seekers instead of beams, etc. Any thoughts?

Unlikely, as Aaron is behind both games.
More likely is that there are fewer ships in a SF "shipset" than in an SEIV one... and the AI's are two different animals... and one would have to put in the extra effort to convert/make the graphics files for 2D BMP's for SEIV as well as the 3D files for SF... and SF mainly ports SEIV weapons and concepts over to 2&1/2D combat anyways, so a mod back to SEIV is sort of circular reasoning.

Re: Why are there no Starfury mods or shipsets for SE4?
Except for the Terran, Abbibon and Sithrak, none of the races even have close to enough ship models. And even those races don't have enough:
Only the Sithrak have a dreadnaught
None have colony ships, small or large frieghters
None have more than one carrier size or fighter size
None have any weapon platform or troop models

Yes, it would take some work to fill in all the blanks, but I think it would be great to use a Sithrak shipset.

I agree. I liked all the ships in Star Fury, some very nice designs.
