I think I\'ll go order SE3!
I was going to post a thread asking for a list of all the techs in the full Version of SE2 so I can make an SE2 conVersion mod for SE4... but you know what? I think I'll go support Malfador a bit more and spend the $30 to get the SE1/2/3 collection - I doubt I'll play it much or anything, but it will give me inspiration for mods, and my brothers might remember the demo of SE2 and get hooked on it again
Way to go Aaron for creating such addictive games that people still buy them nine years after their initial release!

Re: I think I\'ll go order SE3!
SE3 is still a good game, if you don't need eye-candy. It has some advantages over SE4 (and many disadvantages too, of course). I like the Penultimate mod for it.
I considered making an SE3 mod for SE4, but didn't see particularly much potential. The main things I prefer about SE3 are things that are in the program, rather than the mod-type data. (e.g. starting options, build queues, ability to retreat from combat, emissive armor mechanic)
The less efficient PPB and the lack of all-good defense-smashing mounts were good modable things, though, but any mod that addresses balance can deal with those easily.
If you want to see the full tech tree, there are tables posted, and also the "Null Mod" which has all the data files.

Oh, I know about the SE3 tech tables; what I'm looking for is the SE *2* tech tables!

Did you ever happen to see my mod for SE3? I based it off of some other mod, I think "Mike's Mod," though I added plenty of new stuff.

Re: I think I\'ll go order SE3!
SE3 is still a fun game too play. A few things I liked that SE3 had that SE4 didn't have was SE3's system for creating ships. Instead of just having an aloted time period that you had too wait for a ship too get build in SE4, in SE3 you could actually see the ship being built component by component per turn. This was neat because if you needed too send a ship off into battle before construction was completed, you could but the components that where not constructed yet where marked as destroyed. I kinda hope this feature is put back in for SE5.
Also, another feature I liked, but not sure should be included, was the ability too retreit during Tactical combat. I think it actually is more realistic too bring that feature back in SE5, but I could understand why Aaron took it out. I remember back in SE3, I kept chasing colony ships all the time that it was kinda annoying.

I've been playing a bunch of SE3 lately, since I got an old, small, slow laptop and a set of boring classes

And the simple solution would have been to reduce the Max Engines of colony ships to something like 3...

Re: I think I\'ll go order SE3!
I played the demo for SE 3 and thought it was a lot of fun. I might buy it if I have any extra $$ laying around.

I loved this! It was great to be staring almost certain death in the face of an enemy and just sending half constructed ships to battle to hold them off that little bit longer. Added a lot of fun if you ask me. I agree this should be put back in, i can only hope
