Default Planetary population swap?

Until my postman delivers, I'm playing the demo.
My question is this: I captured an enemy planet that is Rock-Hydrogen. The resident race breathes Oxygen so the planet is domed. I can colonize all 3 types and my race breathes hydrogen. Is there a way to swap population on the planet without losing all of the facilites? Basically I want to get rid of the dome and get the extra space out of the planet. Any takers?

Easy as pie! (Pumpkin, given the season! )

All you need to do is send a transport with the right population type, but not 100 percent full, and with enough space to hold the entire current population. If the planet is full, move some of them into the transport and replace with some of the hydrogen breathers. Then swap the remaining oxygen breathers into the transport or as many as you can. Keep swapping until you've got a planet with only hydrogen breathers. Once there are no oxygen breathers left on the planet it will be "full" capacity instead of domed. No special measures necessary. It won't let you remove ALL of the population from a planet anyway.

And if your transport can't hold all those inferior oxygen breathers, then just jettison them into space. Bahahahaha!!!! They will learn to fear me!!!

A very old thread revived. But I need your help!

Okay so I can swap population. But usually I end up with a PopTransporter which has mixed population in its cargo bays. Now it happens that I am a benevolent leader of my people and "jettison cargo" is not an option.

Now what shall I do??

Some Nice Options:
1) Send the various pop off to other worlds where they can breathe the local atmosphere.
2) Store them in a space hotel until you colonize a new planet then use them to fill it.
3) Give them away to somebody else.

Once you have only the population that breaths the atmosphere you will notice that the population limit is now MUCH higher for the planet. You should have no problem landing all the population that breaths that atmo. (unless you are designing really HUGE transports!)

ad 1)
If I drop them, both get dropped -> and I get a domed colony.
ad 2)
Exapmle: I have 500M Oxygen breathers and 400M Hydrogen breathers. I order "Drop" them onto an oxygen planet -> and I get a domed colony.

ad 3) as I said before ... I'm one of those nice guys

Ah! (Ding, light comes on)

The reason you are having trouble with this is you are using the drop cargor remotly button. What you need to do is park the transport over the planet where you want to offload part of the population to and use the "Transfer cargo" button. This give you a screen where you can specify which people to offload and which to keep on the transport.
