Politics in Space Empires 101
Does anyone know the status of the PBW "Space Empires 101" game? It's a bLast, but there has been no movement on it since the Last PBW outage, and I was really hoping to see it get going again.
thanks,
Alarik

Re: Politics in Space Empires 101
Since it appears the game owner has gone AWOL I set you up as game owner. If Wilee returns, or if you'd rather someone else be game owner and someone else is volunteering, I can switch it again. Let me know.
The automatic processing is turned off on teh server so no turns will run unless everybody uploads, or unless teh game owner goes to the game admin screen and hit's the button to execute the turn. You can do that now. ALthough you should probably accept the people marked as pending join first and give them a chance to play their turns.
If you have any problems geting things to work, let me know here or send me an email.

Agh! Wait, me as game owner? I'm not sure that the game owner is awol though! I *really* don't want to step on anyone's toes....let me poll the other players, see if they know something I don't...

That's fine. I think he is since he hasn't responded to your email Queries. But if you all want someone different as game owner let me know.

What political problems ? I've got very good relations with my powerful allies and crush my weakest neighbours, nothing strange about that...

Re: Politics in Space Empires 101
Well..."concerned" was not the right word to use. Let me say instead...contemplative...
From a political point of view, I have come to suspect that this game displays a textbook case of balance of power. Form MY vantage point, there was a large power bloc in the beginning of the game that pulled ahead in terms of resources, tech, etc...Then, as time went on, I suspect that the other powers realized this and got together to form one or more counter-power-blocs. Which is very satisfying for those of us who are students of international relations to observe.
However, from a gameplay point of view, I have come to the opinion that this is why people restrict tech trades and, in some cases, limit "partnerships" to two powers only.
It's all very fascinating to me.
And, I fear what the future will bring in the game...beign a race of extremely peaceful and cooperative types that is...
thanks,
Alarik
