This is supposed to be reassuring?

Lots of games have time limits... all the Civ games have them, for example. The fact that it is only 12 years doesn't mean much, as the turns probably cover alot less time than a year.

Re: OT- Heart of Iron Game
I have this one too and love it. Have not got around to playing a "1.06" game yet. When I first got it, I was looking forward to modding it into a space strategy game. Of course, this idea was quickly dismissed when I learned I could not change the map in anyway. They really should release a map editor prior to releasing HOI2 and make some more money off of HOI.

I shall get this patch.
The learning curve is somewhat mind boggling. I should buy the strategy guide. I have read a lot of the forum on the game and I still have a hard time.
Like if I have a nuke, how do I deploy it?
Simple things like that.
OBTW, I hate great britan, they keep influencing my neighbors.

OBTW, I hate great britan, they keep influencing my neighbors. Yeah, that's what I hate about some games; the d$!n learning curve. I didn't really feel that this game had a hard learning curve. It does take some getting used to, and I was prepared for it because almost every review I had read about this game stated that this is one very detailed game. I just waited for the price to go down before I bought it. I had actually quit playing there for awhile, until this thread started. now I'm anxious to try this 1.06 patch and see what my Mexican troops can do to the world. I was playing US. but that's so durn easy after awhile it's almost not worth playing. I want to play the Germans, but it's hard to get all of those Blitzkrieg troops in the historical allotted time.
AT, what strategy guide are you talking about? Is there one available?

Re: OT- Heart of Iron Game

Do any of them need a publisher?

Thanks. I didn't think there was a published book. But then again, it's not as if I was scouring the game and book stores looking for one. You're right about the forum and FAQ. They're almost as helpful over on that site as most people are on this site.

Re: OT- Heart of Iron Game
I thought I saw a book one day at the computer store. That was a long time ago and my memory is not what it used to be.
Any one have a good link to the No Time Limit mod? The link I have keeps saying Bandwidth Exceeded.

Re: OT- Heart of Iron Game
After seeing this thread i searched the net a bit and i seems to get mixed reviews although most agree that it's a whole new game after patch 1.06.
I wonder how it would compare with world at war from Gary Grigsby.
I like such grand operational war games. I will be buying Trench from adanac command studies too (Frank Hunter) and his next game RFSTAV.
Maybe i should get Hearts of Iron to "kill the time" so to speak
Moderator: I'm very sorry to edit your post but links to other games in competition to shrapnel ones and links/referals to competitors of shrapnel are officially frowned upon.
Minipol: OK and people won't "find" those games by inserting the titles into google?
Removals/editing of Posts to the shrapnel forums are officially frowned upon.
There couldn't help it
But now i know. Won't do it again.
