Bug report - Satellites
Hello!
In my current solo-game I encountered what probably is a minor bug. I'm playing SE4 Gold Version 1.78.
I wanted to relocate some satellites from my home system to the front. As the cargo space on the satellite layer was not big enough, I had to leave some satellites behind. After having moved the ship away, the remaining satellites were still cloaked, though the only satellite with "Stealth-Armor" was on the ship.
That's a bug, isn't it? :-)

Re: Bug report - Satellites
Yeah, I've seen a couple of similar things.
1). Stealth armor uses no supplys to cloak. If a ship has no supplies, it stays cloaked. If you decloak, you cant recloak without resuppling.
2). If stealth armor on a cloaked ship is destoried, it stays cloaked.
Cloaking still kinda buggy in when it's on or off.

Can't you retrofit a cloaked ship? If all this is true, you could essentially build a supply ship lets say with a cloaking device, cloak it, then retrofit the cloaking device off and add more supplies (or whatever) to the design and the ship would remain cloaked.
If this theory, and it's just a theory, is true, that'd be a pretty decent sized bug.

Re: Bug report - Satellites
There was some discussion that the stealth armor cloak should be different from the cloaking device cloak. This may be too big a fix for a patch, but maybe its time to revisit it. It often confuses a newbie that they have to turn it on. Maybe it should always be on with some sort of hard code flag for whether its there or not instead of turning it on and off.

You cannot retrofit a cloaked ship, it does not show up in the retro window.

But sometimes it's bad to be cloaked. Like when you want the cloaked ship to attack and you don't have any other uncloaked ships in the sector.

You are correct sir. And that's the point.
I don't wanna say the stealth armor is too powerful, 'cause that will start a thread of ... is not ... is too ... is realistic ... is only a game.
If you want something that cloaks and decloaks, you should research the cloaking device. Stealth armor could be made more like our stealth technology. Only some defence due to it's inhernt properties, not a turn on cloak.
A common trick of mine in the days I played tactical was to enter a system of new contacts, decloak, recloak, and move on. I got first contact without conflict. Stealth armor and solar cells allowed me to explore the whole galaxy without combat, and that's kinda cheezy.
Splitting up cloak and sensors has already been done already by SJ. But how 'bout this. Allow some level of combat sensors, say level III (it's a little bit expensive) to give level 1 active scan. Or you could have it happen at Combat Sensor level II or I. Then with stealth armor always on, it wouldn't always work against every opponent. And the game would be more interesting.
