Re: A Challenge for Airborne Rifles
I'm having a lot of fun with this battle wulfir. I'll probably finish up this weekend. Nasty surprise, that armored counterattack from the northeast, though I dealt with it surprisingly easily (through no skill of my own, the tanks advanced behind my advancing paratroopers in such a way that my Dragon teams got a bunch of shots at the tanks' rears).
Basically my strategy was to advance my paratroopers across the valley and secure the stream crossings, then move into Traar. I attacked with two companies on two axes with my TOW teams, Sheridans, and FOs in overwatch. My artillery made pretty quick work of the Russian artillery and the air support helped defeat the Russian counterattack. Once my infantry got into Traar I've started moving the National Guard companies northeast behind my paratroopers.
My losses have been relatively light, but I've lost several of my expensive specialist units, including a TOW team, three of my surviving TOW jeeps, a scout team, and a Dragon team. My ability to deal with those tough T-64s is being steadily degraded, since my Dragons and Milans can't handle their frontal armor.
Great fun! I should have the save file posted in the next couple days.

Ok, here is the final turn. The this flank should be clear for the counter-attack.

Re: A Challenge for Airborne Rifles
Sorry about the long delay, Airborne! Busy summer, I'm still in Nova Scotia, Canada visiting the wife's family, but I'll be back home in Sweden Aug 10..., hope we can pick this up again then...

Wulfir, have you thought about releasing this as a full campaign? I've downloaded the three scenarios separately, and will be giving it a try in the near future.

I agree with a_b_danner. I downloaded and played the three scenarios, and I thought they were a different kind of challenge for me. I really enjoyed them, and I would be interested to see them as a campaign.

Re: A Challenge for Airborne Rifles
wulfir, I never realized you responded, more than a year ago! Sorry my excessively tardy response. I'd love to pick this back up at your convenience. Can't promise a quick return with life as crazy as it is right now, but I love your scenarios and the concept of an active campaign.
