Question about AI force size
If I play a long campaign from 1939 to 1945 will the AI adjust its force size as I upgrade my units?
How does the AI choose how much to spend? Is it a ratio of my force based on the mission, a ratio based just on my force size or a ratio based on the points I choose in the preference screen?
Thanks.

Yes,AI will have, and use as many points as your force and support points totaled.

Same as above.

Re: Question about AI force size
It buys based on the mission and what you have actually " spent " so if you had set up the game for you to buy 3000 points but you only bought 2700 it would base it's purchase on the mission and your 2700 points NOT the 3000

Re: Question about AI force size
The test for this is very simple
Set up a normal generated battle but set P2/AI to HUMAN purchase. Use meeting engagment
Set the points for P1 in preferences to say........5000 then buy .......2500 or thereabouts and press done........P2 's screen will appear with the HQ already bought and the remaining points will add up to whatever you spent give or take a point or two
The game works the same for any battle type.... PBEM, Campaign etc

And as the campaign goes on and I upgrade my units, will it base how much it spends on the new cost of my force? Is it also limited to the points in the preference screen or are they just for the initial purchases?

Re: Question about AI force size
Yes - your expensive, now veteran troops are worth a bit more than newbies.
The only time the human players points preference is used is in the initial core buy. Once the core is bought, the AI buys according to your core value plus any support points you decide to spend for the battle. Any support points you elect not to spend are "dropped on the floor". Player 2 then will get less as you elected not to spend them.
The only time you must use all the points you are given is if you are player number 2 in a PBEM game. That is because the points you are given as player 2 reflect what your opponent has already spent and therefore not spending the allocation is handicapping yourself.
