AI scrap facilities to build advanced ones
If MM implement the logic to do the following, the AI improve much in long games.
Capability to scrap facilities in order to have free slots to build advanced ones.
Example..: planet with dome, and 3 mineral miner facility (3/3).
If the AI scrap one and replace it with an Atmosphere modification plant, in the medium/long term the planet have much more free slots.
Ditto for system wide facilities......

Re: AI scrap facilities to build advanced ones
This is what the AI does already. Make sure you put the Atmosphere Modification plant early in the list and it will get built even if the AI has to scrap an existing facility of 'lower' priority.

Nope, it will not. The AI will never ever scrap any facilities except the atmospheric converter itself after changing the atmosphere. I proposed this many times to MM but until now to no avail.

Re: AI scrap facilities to build advanced ones
This is very interesting. I have never seen the AI actually send SYS to repair damaged ships until recently, but you and others have seen it do so often. And you've never seen it scrap existing facilitites to build the AC but I have seen this done many times. Weird how the AI behaves so differently in different games. I use my own custom data files almost all the time, so I guess it's not surprising that things would be a bit different for me but it's odd that such important functions would be so widely different. It doesn't seem to be a very stable AI to be so easily and dramatically affected ...

In the Last game that i play (and still play), the AI don't scrap the AC (gold 1.67).
Is necessary to have the scrap minister on ?

Re: AI scrap facilities to build advanced ones
Also, in a real long game, after exausting all possible research, the AI don't scrap the research/computer facilities.

Re: AI scrap facilities to build advanced ones
Sorry Baron, but I think what you have seen might be an upgrade from one facility to another but not scrapping. No TDM-Modder has ever seen it and Aaron actually put the AC scraping in due to TDM request.

Re: AI scrap facilities to build advanced ones
After loking at all facilities i get the list that need to be verified to scrap.
Climate C.F. -> if planet is Optimal
Value I.P. -> if planet is Maximum
Atmosphere M.P. -> If converted.
Research Center, Central Computer Complex and System C.C. if all the possible research is done.
On this case, change also all the planets of type Research Compound the necessary ones.
If the logic to do this by the AI is implemented, fear for your lives

Re: AI scrap facilities to build advanced ones
In addition, the AI should scrap one facility so it can build an AC. The problem that MM and many Modders stated was, that no spaceport or other important facility should be scrapped and that the Ai should not scrap them all at once and build ACs everywhere because this would use up all available resources. But everyone that scrapping is a good idea in general should mail MM. Maybe MM will do something about this if enough people as for it.
