Default Question about Waypoints

I'm not sure this has come up before and I couldn't find anything in the manual.

Do waypoints work for "ship" type units?

I'm trying to get some patrol boats to cruise down a coast and apparently waypoints are ignored (thus "ships" don't move).

Correct - ship types don't move in the AI's hands.

Boats were provided by SSI to do NGFS. The AI will fire them, if they are LCS etc and so available on the bombardment screen.

There really is no way to give them an AI "plan" - since apart from staying still to provide flak or fire support, what would it do with them? - They would be no use going towards v-hexes, as other things do.

It does have a plan for barges, in the beach assault or the river crossing. Go to nearest shore and dump contents, and go to friendly shore and pick up in the case of the river crossing.

So ships are human use only, or static flak points perhaps.
