Default Dominions 3 crashes on start up

Dominions 3 started crashing on start-up for me. The arrow appears over a black screen and then nothing. Clicking produces a crash message and a gray screen. For some reason, rebooting helps fix this for a while, but after some up time starting the game produces the same results.

I have the latest version with no mods. I tried reinstalling nvidia drivers, but it did not help, except temporarily after restart.

Incidentally, OpenGL acceleration in Photoshop also stops working (results in a crash when opening new/existing file) when this problem happens with Dominions 3.

I had a similar problem when trying to run Dominions3 without version 3.27 but with MODS.

I'm not a computer guy, but try installing the latest patch. Also, Nvidia can be a problem, but Dominions is such an 'old' game I can't see graphics being the problem. You might try lowering graphics settings just to see...

My 2 cents...

dom3 reacts badly to other programs also running opengl. That has been my experience at least. So don't run other programs using that.

Apart from the advice that you might need to reinstall everything this error report is just too vague to help.
