Default BGC - Holding the line is hard

82 T-80s? Really?

I put my Javalin teams in the urban areas. THey plink off a few. I put my tanks on the crest of hills surrounding the villages. They take a few with them. And then I just get overrun. So, so ugly.

Any advice? Anyone beat the scenario?

I found this yesterday El_Pistolero:
http://forums.gamesquad.com/showthre...-Thin-Red-Line

Could be just what we are looking for.
I will give it a try in the Holliday season and get back.

Close – but no cigar (yet). The enemy succeded in getting two tanks past me at Tilshead. I will try with a platoon of tanks further back as reserve.

Some points to this mission:
- I still find it hard to believe that the Rarden gun cannot hurt the T80. It should be able to inflict a mobility kill? The same thing goes for the AT4.
Yet the Warrior can be damaged by a heavy machinegun??
This brings up the obvious question: Gary, why was the infantry company added at all? I see no other use for them than as cannonfudder?

- The kill ods for dismounted troops seems rather low. One Sabre spend all its 30 MM rounds on a FOO team at close range, without destroying it?

- One of the objectives are listet as preventing the enemy from crossing PL Thomas. But it should be FOB Jack.

Success at last. (well, so I thought)

Rearranged the troop set-up slightly.
This time the same FOO team is easily destroyed with 30 MM fire.
The Javelins are doing a good job also. Some making one shot-one kill.
I hold the line beyond 1600 hours - but the enemy is not atritted to 30 vehicles:

I am at 1630 hours. 33 enemy tanks remain. Only three are visible - remains of the first two waves.
Where are the others, Gary? Will they attack, or are we supposed to go look for them?
I suppose the latter is not true, as we have a defensive mission?

If I remember correctly, you have to counter-attack and destroy them to with the the mission.

Yep. Sneaked forward with two Sabres and a bunch of Challengers. With a little fire support, they got the enemy down to 30 vehicles.

Well - two important corrections for the briefing.

If I recall, in my game, which was quite a while ago, the T80s just kept coming until they stopped in front of my minefields. I think I had my assets deployed in a way that allowed the enemy to be spotted along all of the major axes of advance from quite a long distance.
I can't remember the timeline of when everything was pretty much destroyed by.
