Another little exploit: If you kill someone with great scales, and don't spread your own dominion there, you'll get all the benefit of those scales. I'm doing this right now in the Wet ham game, I'm LA R'lyeh and killed MA Oceania so I get great income from his maxed out scales by not spreading my dominion there.

You dont actually get the effects of his good scales without having your own dominion present. At best you get the effects of neutral scales. Though because you are LA R'lyeh, even neutral scales could seem amazing in comparison to your native scales.

Or do you get benefits from scales in neutral dominion?
Which is what you'd have after he dies.

I think some of us are confused because in the gui we see the positive dominion. We can even click on the little icons and the gui tells us we are getting the bonus from the scales.

I just wish it was more clear...

2 black candles and the turn before was 3 black candles.
Luck is a bit odd in that like growth you get a partial benefit from enemy dominion. The chance of good vs bad events is reversed (enemy luck dominion increases your chances of bad events) but the events that are unlocked correspond to the actual scales. So, luck-3 scales unlock some nice events. The thing to keep in mind though is other scales can unlock some pretty nasty events and strong enemy luck will make them much more likely to occur. Enemy luck-3/death-3 for instance will give you a lot of high pop killing events while they don't get that many. Luck/drain will give you that horrible "magic is fading" gem loss event. Luck/turmoil will give you a lot of indie attacks and compound things by giving you even more events. There's probably some bad stuff unlocked by sloth scales but I don't remember off the top of my head.

Interestingly enough there does not seem to be any events that are triggered by sloth/production. At least not that I can find. And most of the common indie attacks requires misfortune to trigger at all.

Barbarians, tritons, shamblers(?) = misfortune 1.
Knights = misfortune 2.
Huge Barbarian attack = Misfortune 3.

There are other kinds of indy attacks that dont require misfortune, but all of them are marked as uncommon. Whatever that means.

The Oleg's Device event requires L2P2 iirc. I never checked for events triggered by sloth however.

Isn't the free castle event also triggered by production ?

One thing I do know is hot scales burn your labs down a lot so having a lucky, hot neighbour is bad news if you let his dominion into your research pods. In one test game I ran under hot 3 / misf 2 scales my capital's lab burned twice in the first 5 turns. I was ecstatic.

Well, maybe that's it. But I'm getting 450+ gold from his capital of 30.000 people, which seems like a lot for neutral scales. So I though this basically:
