Sound Error
British Scimitars LEP (2020) have "laser gun" sound for main armament. Kinda cool at first, not so much after a while.

They are perfectly fine on my development install, and my reference D/L version built solely from the released installers.
Check that 93.wav exists in your sounds folder. If not, then you may have done something wrong when installing. Or if you have Vista/Windows 7 then you may have found another example of their weird and wonderful habits of squirrelling files away in random strange places known only to themselves?. If you have the vista/Windows 7 things on your machine, rather than XP or earlier then you should reinstall the games to a folder away from the \program files\ hierarchy to avoid that behaviour.
Cheers
Andy

Re: Sound Error
That sound is new for this last release and there WAS a new sounds.ini issued that pointed sound093="93.WAV" so even if there is a copy of that WAV file in your sounds folders it won't play unless the new SOUNDS.INI is there too as that's what tells the game what to look for and play.
I checked the patch, the new sounds.ini was in the correct folder and I checked the copy of the game I keep just for testing patch installs and it is correct as well. Testing that unit in that patch install game does give the correct sound.
I suspect, as Andy said, Vista/Windows 7 has "decided" it knows a better place for that file and the replacement sounds.ini wasn't put in the sound file and you are still running from the old one
We have been suggesting anyone running Vista or Windows 7 take their game out of program files and put it in their C: drive in the information page of the last few installers becasue of this problem.

Re: Sound Error
Well.....it's done something weird with the sounds.ini. Do a seach for "sounds.ini" and check the creation dates. The correct one is dated Feb 25, 2010 and if you open it, it will say sound093="93.WAV" Then check that you have a 93.WAV in your sound folder
