Default M900 105mm APFSDS-T

Perhaps someone could clear this up

http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...tions/m900.htm

states

Quote:
This cartridge is compatible with the US M-1, M-60, and M-48 series tanks emplying the 105mm M-68 cannon.
then 5 paragraphs later states....

Quote:
The M900 is authorized for use in M1 tanks only. Firing the M900 from any other 105mm tank system may result in failure of the gun mount. Firing in unauthorized gun mounts will result in failure of the recoil mechanism hydraulic seals
anybody have any non contradictory info about that and if any other nation uses this round ??

Default Re: M900 105mm APFSDS-T

As a guess I'd say they're referring to the older M1's with the 105mm.
Given it says "Do not fire the M900 from 105mm, M68 series cannon equipped with breeches having serial numbers lower than 4804." I'd bet most M-48's and M-60's do not have guns that new, so unless the tank has had its main gun replaced with a newer one they shouldn't use this round. Chances are the M-1 tanks with a 105 all have a main gun newer then serial number 4804.

But this is just an educated guess.
