Default Problem with Vista

Well, my 8 year old computer kicked the bucket, and now I have a Vista machine. neither SPWW2 or SP MBT will run on the damned thing (among other problems)

Any ideas? Anyone else able to run these on Vista? if I can't play these games i will probably have a freakin' fit!

Wecome to the nightmare takes as may steps back as forward. I found it even more illogical than XP & if you do after market addons to XP they do anything it does better. Also did a speed test as set to dual boot & found on my system XP is quicker think because much less of a resource hog. Widgets etc handled really badly in Vista if stay with it turn off all the rubbish to improve efficency

Not as silly as it sounds the only sensible improvement vista gives IMHO is a slightly improved defence against virus attack but at huge cost. So get a decent AV program & if really worried only use an administrator account when changing things. Everything else can be done as well exept round corners on windows but that could probably done if you could be bothered. Free addons can give you far better widgets with full control over them, place anywhere auto activate if mouse over etc etc, transparent windows, RMB the window bar & set to what you want for that individual window (only time I find handy transfering & editing documents) the list just goes on & the free ones do more than Vista pay & it looks silly & they are far less resource intensive. Did an intensive maths test (3D render) & XP was 21% faster but systems vary.
My suggestion if you have any pennies left stick some more memory in to account for what its eaten or dig your XP disc out & spend the cash on a decent explorer replacement as both systems are rubbish.
You now have a system that does far more than Vista looks as good & lives upto its name of Personal Computer because you can make it do/look what you want plus in my case its quicker to.
