Default First game impressions

I just finished my first game. It was fun. I really like the ease of interface. Played as the US and lost because I couldn't invade enough islands before Sept 1945. My strategy was to hoard my carriers into one massive group and overwhelm any location I attacked. I figured that at one point I would meet up with the main Japanese carrier fleet and the war would be determined. That happened in Sept 44 at Midway. Japan lost 10 carriers in that battle and never could mount a threat again. I was ready to march to Japan. However, the lack of US amphib forces in 44/45 surprised me. I don't remember the numbers but I didn't get enough to finish the job. Japan however would get one or two SNLF forces a month. I had to keep raiding the home islands to sink them before they could invade. And despite overwhelming raids on the home islands, Japan never had to keep a minimum of patrol ships there.

I'm looking forward to my next game and will try a different strategy as mine clearly didn't work. I also learned not to use the early game amphib forces until you can ensure holding what is taken.

All in all, a fun time. Took about 4 hours to play through the war.
