Default A thought for OOB moders

This mainly applies to infantry companies
Taking into account how the game works, units generally fire in purchase order if a viable target so if had LOS to same target AO A1 A2 would fire in that order.
I therefore suggest the following structure.

Leader unit - Squad
Long range weapons - MMG Grenade launcher
Platoons - Squads
Scouts
ATGM
MANPADS
Forward Obs.

The idea is assuming view to same target.
Long range weapons fire first then squads, the rest only give away position if have to as others failed.

Also if platoon make up has 2 diffrent squad types, the lone one usually a support squad with more MG or long range weapons it might be worth making him the platoon leader as he follows directs the other squads giving cover fire. So less likely to take fire & can rally others.

This is a nod to game mechanics obviosly & will help the AI to, the main one is MMGs fire first as are area suppressor can make a big diffrence if enemy reasonably grouped.

Couple "problems" with this.
Units not only tend to fire in purchase order but also move.
Putting the scouts ahead of the long range weapons will allow them to play bullet magnet and find opposition units for the rest of the formation.
A forward observer will not work "correctly" unless it's unit zero in a formation.

Making a support weapon unit the leader of a platoon formation has the same "problem" as mentioned above, they tend to move first thus receive more fire then following units in a formation.

This is one of those issues where "player" VS "AI" comes into play.
I've found it best to tailor formations to best advantage for the AI since a player can move/fire their units in any order they wish.

Okay that makes sense had not thought about unit move order, agree OOB should be set up so works best with AI.
