Re: Illwinter Ritual Expectations
Well it's a trick, don't you see? This IS the age of Ragnarok - dark clouds roll over the land, and brothers kill brothers..... Perhaps the spell should just be called Winter Wonderland.

Re: Illwinter Ritual Expectations
or how about calling it 'Man flu' Winter, as my wife would say - like a pansy version of the flu that men get?

The attacks do build up over time, as I recall. I had it cast for a long time in an SP game, and the attacks became pretty good after a while. It seems like cold dominion helped them.
Of course, you would not want to cast this in an MP game, unless you were at war with everyone else. The attacks are totally random, and can hit anyone.

I believe the attack's strength is dependent on the cold scale- which means that, in practice, strength does build up over time, since you're slowly freezing the world.

Sounds like something my wife would say too...
BTW: Is your Icon "Tim" (a busy man) from the Holy Grail?

PS For a lower level ritual I'll concede that Illwinter probably isn't too bad IF you have the luxury of waiting for it to bloom. I'll probably run headlong into it playing as Abyssia someday.
