Nether bolt/darts
In the manual's spell description of nether bolt it says that a successful MR roll avoids the feeblemind. Does that mean that the damage isn't checked by MR? Or are they different rolls? Or just confusion in the description? And do the same rules apply to darts?

I know tower shields will drastically cut down the damage from nether darts, but you'll end up with a block of feebleminded infantry, so I'm guessing they're two different rolls.

Re: Nether bolt/darts
Why is it that shields help a lot against nether darts? It's probably one of my favorite spells, but it's really annoying that an armor piercing attack can't pierce shields...

Re: Nether bolt/darts
So the damage isn't checked by MR at all? Or both shield parry and MR?

Re: Nether bolt/darts
The bolt is PROBABLY handled as a magical missile:
1) Missiles can be negated by shields, see pg 77 of manual, protection value doesn't matter.
The missile/damage part of Nether Bolt can be parried, but isn't negated by magic resistance AFAIK.
2) Poisoned bows of Sauromatia poison troops even when no damage is dealt, flaming arrows deal fire damage even when no mundane damage is dealt, etc etc. This is a reported bug which basically means that for missile weapons, #specialeffect acts like #specialeffectalways.
The feeblemind part of Nether Bolt will feeblemind troops that fail a magic resistance roll even if they didn't take any damage from the bolt/damage part of the spell.
This is the only mechanic that I'd like to see changed from the one that's given in the manual.
