Re: blitz tonight?
One of these days want to try a blitz - how fast do you play each turn? do you play on a server? Do I have time to get up and eat - a blitz sounds so fast

Re: blitz tonight?
until the steam goes out of it... it's a bunch of different people, so more often than not you'll wish the turn's faster
you probably won't be hungry during it
server play, chat in IRC
it's a nice way to be brutally molested.

Re: blitz tonight?
haha, pretty much yeah. We just use quickhost, and everyone is 'on their honor' to play as quick as possible. You always play tcp/ip (I host when I'm involved). I managed to run out to the store and get beer around turn 40 in one of them, and it only barely slowed down the game (I played two quick turns before and after going, and the store isn't far), so I doubt getting up for some food would be a problem. If you did that in the first 20 turns or so it might be annoying, since those tend to be a fair bit faster.

Re: blitz tonight?
sounds good I'm eastern, but I tend to stay up late.... I haven't had much time for blitzing lately though, tonight being an exception. But nobody showed up, and it's too late for me now.
Keep in mind that a 4 person blitz game can easily take 4-6 hours (small-medium map and easy research), and even then it's not usually 'done.' It's usually just obvious who's won, or else I'll leave the server up so surviving players can finish it up at a turn/day.

Re: blitz tonight?
Friday and Saturday nights are best for blitzes.

Re: blitz tonight?
If you host one of these next week I may be interested. I have been blitzing with friends who only have the demo, stopping at turn 40 is not very fun

Re: blitz tonight?
We'll see, Friday night may be good for me along as we don't get started too late.
