Default Changing how it looks?

Is there an option that I have missed, or some modification or something that makes the different heights much easier to identify?

Not sure exactly what you mean.
Right now you can mouse over any hex on the map and get it's elevation.

I am not sure how to explain it. Perhaps it is just me, but many times when there is a clear change of height, I can't understand which hex is higher unless I hover the pointer over them. So, different texture? Or a way to show the height of each hex all the time on the hex?

I understand exactly what you mean, although the elevation tool comes pretty handy it would be nice that those levels of elevation were more graphical evident thus easier to analize when planning.

P. S. Ive been testing a game named Armoredbrigade (which I mentioned in another thread) it has a "thermal height" toggle on-off tool that seems to work just fine (besides the point-over tool that the game also has) and you can switch off whenever you see fit.

The game also has a LOS tool wich with a mouse click tells you all the visible terrain to any specificall location or unit on the map (the red mark on pic 2 and green mark on the unit on pic3)

I would love to see something like this implemented in SPMBT!

Did you mean something that looks like this:

Yes. It would have to be slightly different.
From what I understand this armoredbrigade gamed doesn't have hexes so it might not be as easy? Of course on the other hand having hexes means clearer "cut" between heights when such a tool/option is used. At least I am guessing that would be the case.

The problem if the above screenshot was of winspmbt with an option or different map mode etc, would be that it wouldn't change much when in medium to low height where the issue takes place more.

But yeah, more or less this looks like a possible solution.

So, anyone has any such mod?

Ive just edited last post.

No it doesnt have hexes, it works with coordinates and a vector to establish LOS between 2 points, elevations are measured in meters and so far Ive seen like 5 or 6 different levels each one with a different color.

Figuring heights and LOS is relativeley easier in Ab than in SP just beceause you have this 2 tools that tells you what can you see and who might be able to see you at any time, it just simplifies things and theyre entirely optional.

Im not saying you have to like AB neither that AB is better than SP, they each belong to different dimensions, Im just pointing out an idea implemented in that game as an example of what you might were suggesting in your first post. So its only a matter of me giving an example of something that could or could not be implemented in SP IMHO

Keep Cool

"Your" idea looks more beautiful than what I had in mind. I was thinking of an (optional)small "patch" of colour/box inside each sex that either on its own or with a number on top, it would give you a very quick and relatively (if no number at all) accurate (more accurate) view on the heights/topography.
I was thinking that would be easier to implement than something as expansive as what armored brigade has (I will try a demo one day).
Of course, easier for anyone but me since programming is not my strongest skill.

EDIT: For example something like this (don't laugh with my horrible drawing skills)

My bet is that something like that (or any innovation not code-wise) is very complicated to implement in SP due to reasons we all know, so most likely the viable request regading this thread would be something like every hex at certain altitude would get a certain color? I also dont know a peanut about programming but that seems easier to implement or maybe I dont know what Im talking about.

Well have to ask the developer but I dont think AB is more "expensive" than SP at all.

EDIT: I see your point, although dont you think it would be easier using colors? A number on each hex would just drive me crazy!! and would be unreadable at most zoomed-out views IMHO.

Keep Cool

using both colours and numbers as option in the small box.

After certain zoom out, you don't need the small boxes anyway so you don't have to show them on all zoom levels.
