To Siege or Pray about it...

I'm besieging a Fortress. Main commanders are also Holy and I want to do some Preaching.

Will their troops continue to be applied to reducing the Fortress even if the Commanders are not set to 'Siege'? Or for his troops to count, must a Commander do nothing else?

Anyone not set to siege will not work on destroying walls, nor will any troops under his command.

You can put the troops in the recruit pool, unassigned troops will tear down the wall .

If you put them in the recruit pool, that might lead to chaos should the enemy decide to break the siege. Of course that depends on how strong he still is.
