I agree, Omsktransmash went bankrupt in 2002. They have been saved by the government and kept around but only to upgrade T-80s. As far new production and design is concerned, they are finished and their capabilities liquidated. Hell, what is left Omsktransmash is now going to be de facto Uralvagonzavod property.

And now that koreans have their own K2 program set for mass production the chances that they are going to resurrect the black eagle are next to non existant.

Re: South Korea
They were put into a "Prototype Tank" formation in Misc weeks ago. The AI cannot use them and a human player can if he wants to play " what if"

Re: South Korea
Dear DRG.
The tank "Black Eagle" - the experimental tank of the Russian Federation. Such tanks now are not present even in the Russian army. How these tanks in general have appeared in OOB South Korea?
Yours faithfully.

Re: South Korea
Dear Marcello.
Omsktransmash - the bankrupt. But reconstruction of defensive holding and this enterprise is now made is a part of new military holding under control of Uralvagonzavod. For today - Omsktransmash does repair of tanks T-80. Probably the design office conducts any new workings out - I do not know about it.
Yours faithfully.

They were put in because someone a few years ago read a news story that suggested the Koreans were interested in the tank so it was put in and dated a few years in the future ( at that time ). If we leave things like this out people complain because we supposedly not staying on top of the news and when we do and it turns out to be a false report we get criticized for that and personally I'm getting fed up with it. There are tanks in the Turk OOB that are "iffy" as well but we put them in anyway. The "Black Panther" has been added to the Turk OOB as a "prototype" because there are reports the Turks are interested and the T-84 Yatagan that was included in the main formations last patch has been move to "prototype" status for the next patch because AT THE TIME it was added it looked like the Turks might actually buy it but now it's looking less likely so it hasn't been removed but it's not in an "active" formation any longer and the introduction date has been pushed back.
OK?
You set the start date for BTR-T in your Russian OOB in 2000 which I find HIGHLY questionable. In 2000 that vehicle was still being reported to be a one of prototype. I would LOVE to see some real evidence that it was being actively used by Russian troops at that time.( or even now for that matter. I consider the 2008 date in our OOB "generous" under the circumstances ) There are some lovely photos of it all painted up pretty but that's it, never with troops aroound. Kind of like the photos I've seen in the past of the "Black Eagle"

Re: South Korea
Ok.
----------
BTR-T
You are absolutely right. BTR-T - in 2000 in the Russian army is an error, also as well as 2008 will be an error. I suggest to make for example 2010. I not am assured that these BTR-T in general will in our army. These kinds of arms are made for export deliveries.

Re: South Korea
It's 2011 in our OOB's for the next patch ( 2008 in the OOB's everyone has now but when that was put in 2008 WAS " the future" ) but I have a feeling it's going to be pulled out of the OOB sometime in the future for the same reason the Black Eagle was a couple years ago.

Sounds reasonable. Even if, bar a miracle, the tank itself is not going to see mass production it is nice to have it around for when you want an advanced russian tank.

Since Uralvagonzavod produces and design tanks I doubt they are anxious to create competitors to their own products.
And given how badly the T-80 lost out to the T-72 in the export market there is very little incentive for it anyway.
There is a legacy fleet of T-80Bs which will be probably upgraded but that's it.
The ukrainians are hanging on by making spares and components AFAIK.
