Default Bug? Not really... Bunker phantom fire

I've noticed this before but haven't seen it mentioned on the forum. Also, quick search didn't find anything related.

Playing the 'Ferdinands at Kursk' scenario, Germans attacking a series of ridges with Russian defenses. The Russians have a few bunkers facing the main line of attack. Once my troops (German) move past and into flanking position the bunkers are not able to op fire due to their fixed covered arc. Of course, as this is how it should be. However, the problem (if it is one) is that the bunker will see the movement, try to fire but be prevented by having no line of fire, and even though the bunker did not fire it will still receive suppressing fire from my other units. In summary, bunkers are subjected to return fire even when they didn't fire, only tried to but failed.

I played around with an immobilized assault gun to see if it was subjected to the same return fire when it tried but couldn't fire but I could not reproduce the same results as the bunkers. I will try a few more trial runs this afternoon if I get time but I wanted to post this now to see if anyone else has noticed this.

I could post a save game but I don't believe this is a scenario-specific issue.

Dean

This is a long-standing issue since SP was developed back in 1995.

I don't think there's a fix for it. Doesn't affect gameplay (apart from draining ammo and being tedious....).

JohnHale, With all due respect I beg to differ. The draining of ammo and being tedious DO effect gameplay in every way possible. It would be nice if the game makers fixed it, but with so many problems they won't have the time. It would be like fixing the pothole when the freeway bridge has collasped.

Well Andrew Nault I guess this would be a good time to explained exactly what you mean by this remark.

Let me rephrase my statement, draining ammo and wasting my time do effect MY gameplay in a negative way. This is what I mean and if you don't care shame on me because I bought your game.

Andrew... it's time you either lose the attitude or leave

Where did we say we don't care except perhaps in your own mind ? All I asked for was an explanation of your snotty remark.

This issue was added to the to-do list and has now be corrected for the next patch for both games.

Tell you what. If you want to contribute constructively as Dean did in the original post you are welcome to stay. Another post like these ones you've made and your gone.

Understand ?

I owe Andrew Gailey and Don Goodbrand an apology.
I apologize for making one or both of you angry at me. I would like you to know this was not my intention at all and in the future I will not be ambiguous.

Best Regards,

Andrew Nault
