Number of AI opponents

I thought Gold would give you the opportunity to select the number of computer opponents. I got the game today and can't seem to find out how that is done. Can anyone help?

Aahhhhhhhh, okay. I was looking for something in the initial setup screen that might say something like: "Select # of starting AI opponents" or somesuch. Thanks for the info!
