Turn Order
I cast murdering winter, a ritual province based damage spell, on an enemy army. I had a scout in the province, so I knew they were there. 700 of them! I looked at how things are processed during a turn in the manual, and casting rituals came a long time before anything related to army movement.
Yet when I cast the spell the next turn I got a message that it didn't kill anyone They had moved but I can't imagine that all 700 of Pangea's troops, including lots of satyr and maeden chaff, was able to survive murdering winters from a W10 caster. Even if they had gift of health.
What gives?

Re: Turn Order
How strong was the dominion? Gift of Health with a Dominion of 10 is a very huge life bonus... I believe it's double the life, so even a unit with 9 health would have 18 health.

Re: Turn Order
They could have moved their army using Faery Trod. If your Ritual went off after theirs, they would even be there.
That being said, Murdering Winter does a fixed amount of damage. They easily could survive it, especially with Gift of Health.

Re: Turn Order
Hmm, well I'm 100% sure they didn't use Faery Trod to move on province away while in a place that didn't have a lab
But I guess Jedi is right, I honestly didn't even look at the damage from winter. I just read the description, and figured it would do plenty of damage since it's 50 gems >.<
I guess in retrospect I would want to save something like that for the turn before my army engages there army? And he had really high dominion in that province, maybe 6-7.

Re: Turn Order
Pangaea has very high hp troops. You may be better served casting the spell at races that have less hps or are vulnerable to cold damage.

Re: Turn Order
Heat scale is also very important, a heat 3 province reduces the damage from MW to 1 point, whereas a cold 3 gives you 13 AN damage, which is respectable against human troops (still not gonna do much against Pan though) Dropping a Wolven Winter the turn before you cast Murdering is a good plan if you know where the army will be.

Re: Turn Order
Or have two or three casters cast it on the same turn. Damage should stack.
