How much can you mod the PD?
I was wondering if it's possible to change the units that are chosen for PD for any nation. I can tell it's probably impossible to have different PD in different ages, but I'm talking about simply making the game point to different units than what it points to now.
I think a cool mod would be one that changes the PD for some of the nations to be new, unique units rather than the current national ones. Maybe if the mod is inspiring enough it can become official material.

Re: How much can you mod the PD?
Heh. Strange, I just posted about this in the thread on the other forum.
You can change the PD for nations very easily. You can determine this much;
The type of leader unit they get for everything > 1 PD
The type of unit A and number they get per 10 points > 1 PD
The type of unit B and number they get per 10 points > 1 PD
The type of bonus leader they get once they have > 19 PD
The type and number of troop C they get per 10 points > 19 PD
The type and number of troop D they get per 10 points > 19
PD is very easy to mod and you can reference any unit numbers you want, so mod units are just as easy to have in PD as vanilla ones.
If you want a mod which changes this stuff, I suggest you try it yourself. The modding manual is clear on this one so you probably wouldn't even need much help.

I'd like to know too-especially if the PDcan be made more complex, like getting new troops at *other* than PD 1 and 20

Re: How much can you mod the PD?
Well beyond the mod commands in the manual I can't really help you. It would require some kind of exe hacking I imagine.

Re: How much can you mod the PD?
Thanks much. My only problem with doing it myself would be graphics, so I suppose I'll look around and see what threads there are on making/editing graphics specifically for this game.
I'm tempted, however, to look into province troops as a base for PD, though.

Re: How much can you mod the PD?
Well for something like this I don't think you'd really need new graphics.
Depends what you have in mind I suppose. I'd be fairly interested in just seeing a mod which gives the vanilla nations more thematic PD without particularly strengthening it or weakining it. So getting rid of the humanbred in EA Abysia etc. Not too hard to do.

Re: How much can you mod the PD?
A thought: Since you can change the multiplier that determines how many troops arrive, you have a limited amount of control for getting different numbers at different PD levels.
