Default Roadside bombs

I am doing a scenario of the second war of the Lebanon and do not know as to imitate the use of roadside bombs. Hezbollah guerilla destroyed much Merkava's using this type of petard. The mines just imobilize them.

There is really no way to do this as you cannot trigger their detonation on command. I am experimenting on some things but nothing concrete yet on how to simulate something like this.

How about using something similar to the way the satchel charges and basic mines are simulated?

I mean create a "detonator team" of 1 or 2 guys, size 0, little or no weapons except for one shot of an "IED" weapon that they will, in effect, "shoot" at the convoy.
This weapon would have to have huge HE effects, enough range for the unit to reach the target, and enough accuracy to hit a moving vehicle reliably enough (not that IEDs hit bullseye every time, of course).

If the "detonator team" (make that the guy overlooking the proper priming of the IED, you have to have someone anyway otherwise you can go for mines just the same) can be positioned just next to the target, then you can make his IED "weapon" from the standard 1000lb bomb that should be present in every OOB (for the ammo trucks death effect).

I'm not very in favor of this kind of solutions (as was advocated for laser-guided PGMs f.e.) but in this case this is the best solution I can think of. If anyone can find a better one...

I would think you could do something similar to the manually emplaced booby traps I created for myself in the Viet Cong OOB. I used an AT-gun class of some sort IIRC, set the size and speed to zero and the crew to one, and gave it any number of weapons (in this case you could just create an IED weapon with range 1). I also used the spider hole icon, which looks like disturbed earth.

It gives the weapon a bit more range than it should, but allows placement of explosives along the roadside that are inconsistant in their detonation and effect, which is pretty true to life.

Someone else talked about how one might go about creating a VBIED in this thread too: http://www.xtreme-gamer.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=41540

Just some idea.

It seems a good way. I go to make any experiences with your 'booby traps' amplifying HEAT valour to get destroy tanks.

To drawing board...

Thanx
